Passion for Cattle
Ranching is a way of life and we wouldn't change this path for anything. Our passion for cattle starts with their genetics in order to raise a productive animal while using less natural resources. We take pride in a quiet, low stress method of cattle handling by utilizing horses.
Cattle are born and raised in the beautiful Sandhills of Nebraska where they roam on grass and supplemented with hay and cake (compressed feed) in the winter months. The cows stay on the ranch and around a year of age, the feeder calves will go to a family owned feedlot where they are provided the proper nutrition needed to create an enjoyable eating experience for you and your family.
Nutrition is very important as well as access to the proper salt and mineral a cow needs to thrive. Another important sector is herd health in which we work closely with our local veterinarian to develop a vaccination protocol for our cattle in order to keep them healthy and protected from disease. Antibiotics are only used if an animal is very sick however ALL BEEF, is required by Federal law to be free of antibiotic residues. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sets standards and ensures that beef is free of antibiotics.
At the end of the day, we rest easy knowing that we have done everything possible to keep our cattle well fed, safe from any harsh environments and healthy.

Raising Cattle & Children
Homegrown Beef, LLC is run by a family who strives to raise quality cattle and be stewards of the land. Ty & Katie Keller ranch in the Sandhills of Nebraska along with their two daughters, Ada (age 4) and Mattie (age 1). Ty Keller is a 5th generation rancher who was raised in the Sandhills, traveled around the midwest and the south working and gaining knowledge and skills at other ranches and riding colts. Katie Keller is a 1st generation rancher who came into agriculture with a passion and love for animals. She received a major in Animal Science from SDSU while working different jobs to gain experience in a variety of facets in the industry. Ty & Katie met in Valentine, Nebraska while Ty was a ranch hand and Katie was managing the Sandhills Cattle Association. They married in 2019, combined their two small cattle herds and started a life together.
Today they care for their herd of cow-calf pairs, the horses used on the ranch, as well as the cattle dogs that are also employed on the ranch. Away from the ranch responsibilities, Ty does leather work, is a farrier and enjoys competing in ranch rodeos. Katie is a sales representative for ABS Global and runs a small business, KtK Livestock Services, LLC that specializes in cattle reproduction and livestock graphic design.
